Become CERT trained. Encourage others to become CERT trained.
Identify people living within the area boundaries who have vehicles that could be useful for:
Transporting people in need of medical care.
Caring of the elderly and infirm (motor homes, trailers, campers, etc.)
Relocating large groups of people to a distant location.
Choose and train several assistants to help you in the event of a disaster.
Identify people living within the area boundaries who have experience driving buses or tractor trailer rigs.
Learn the designated emergency medical treatment areas that may be set up in the event of a disaster. Identify and map the location of all medical facilities throughout the area and alternate routes to them in the event that roads become impassable.
Identify the designated government relocation evacuation sites for people living within the area boundaries.
Teach people living within the area boundaries the transportation procedures to be used in the event of a disaster.
In the event of a disaster, after reporting to your respective block captain, go directly to the EOC – Emergency Operations Center to help in establishing a working EOC to assist all people living within the area boundaries in receiving the necessary aid.
Provide transportation needs for the EOC, first aid station or critical care unit, and injured residents by whatever means necessary.
