Become CERT trained. Encourage others to become CERT trained.
Identify people living within the area boundaries who are trained in the medical profession or who have had first aid training. Teach them how they can most effectively contribute their services in the event of a disaster.
Choose and train several assistants who are medical professionals or trained in first aid to help you in the event of a disaster.
Teach people living within the area boundaries what they should be doing to prepare themselves for emergency first aid and medical care. Organize first aid training courses and resources.
In the event of a disaster, after reporting to your respective block captain, go directly to the EOC – Emergency Operations Center to help in establishing a working EOC to assist all people living within the area boundaries in receiving the necessary aid.
As part of the EOC – set up and maintain a working first aid station or critical care unit. Use all available supplies and trained personnel in this process. Advise the EOC of other needs to see that they are met.
