Become familiar with the Area Emergency Response Plan.
Become CERT trained. Encourage others to become CERT trained.
Identify people living within the area boundaries who are trained in caring for the deceased. Teach them how they can most effectively contribute their services in the event of a disaster.
Choose and train several assistants to help you in the event of a disaster.
Learn the procedures for taking care of the deceased and the proper burial procedures.
Acquire essential supplies that may be needed to care for fatalities in the event of a disaster. Be prepared to organize a temporary morgue until arrangements can be made for burial.
In the event of a disaster coordinate the handling and burial for the deceased.
In the event of a disaster, after reporting to your respective block captain, go directly to the EOC – Emergency Operations Center to help in establishing a working EOC to assist all people living within the area boundaries in receiving the necessary aid.
Set up and maintain a provisional morgue as directed by the medical specialist and/or CERT Team Leader.
